I am writing to invite you to join me in commemorating International Muslim History Month (IMHM) this May. IMHM is a month-long celebration of the contributions and achievements of Muslims throughout history. It was created by the nonprofit World Hijab Day Organization in 2021, and has been recognized by New York State since then! 

As we strive to promote diversity and inclusion in our workplace, I believe that it is important to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of our Muslim colleagues and community members. Observing IMHM is an opportunity for us to learn more about Muslim culture and history, and to recognize the invaluable contributions that Muslims have made to our society.

To celebrate IMHM, I suggest that we organize events, workshops, or webinars that promote awareness and understanding of Muslim culture and history. We can also highlight Muslim figures throughout history on our company social media platforms or in our newsletters.

Here are a few ideas for observing IMHM:

• Organize a virtual or an in-person event featuring a Muslim speaker who can talk about their experiences and contributions to their field
• Host a virtual book club featuring works by Muslim authors
• Share resources, such as books, documentaries, or podcasts, that focus on Muslim culture and history
