Subject: Request to Commemorate International Muslim History Month at [School Name]

Dear [School Name] Administration,

I hope this email finds you well. I’m excited to inform you that May is celebrated as International Muslim History Month (IMHM) worldwide. This month-long celebration was created by the nonprofit World Hijab Day Organization in 2021 and has been recognized by the New York State since then.

As a parent who values diversity and inclusion, I am writing to request that [School Name] commemorates International Muslim History Month in May by organizing events, workshops, or any other activities that highlight the contributions and achievements of  Muslim men and women throughout history.

This is an opportunity to teach our children about the rich history and culture of the Muslim community and to promote mutual respect and understanding for different cultures and religions. It is also a chance to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and promotes acceptance.

Here are five different ways [School Name] can get involved:

  1. Organize talks and discussions on the contributions of Muslim scholars and leaders in various fields such as science, literature, art, and politics.
  2. Host cultural events that showcase the diverse Muslim cultures and traditions from around the world, including food, clothes, etc.
  3. Conduct research projects that highlight the achievements of Muslim individuals and communities throughout history, and their impact on the world.
  4. Display exhibitions of Islamic art and artifacts that highlight the history and diversity of Islamic culture and civilization.
  5. Develop and distribute educational resources, such as books, videos, and lesson plans, that promote a greater understanding and appreciation of Muslim history and culture.

I believe that by working together, we can create an enriching and meaningful experience for our children and promote a positive and inclusive school culture.

Thank you for considering this request, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Best Regards,

[Your Name]
