First, I want to thank everyone who has helped and supported the great initiative: World Hijab Day.
Secondly, I want to tell that wearing hijab is one of the most wonderful things in the world!
It does not undermine my rights as a woman, make me less worthy than men and it is not something that I have been forced to do, as many might suggest. Actually, it is the right contrary; it ensures the maintenance of my rights as a woman, thus it gives me equal dignity as men and it is something I myself have chosen to wear and do.
Wearing hijab, in my opinion, does not mean religious perfection, rather it is a part of our life-struggle of coming closer to Allah, and it is not always as easy as one might expect. As a hijabi I have faced many obstacles, both at school, on the street and at work, but every time I faced these obstacles, I felt that I got personally stronger and one step closer to Allah.
I even remember my parents not allowing me to wear it when I was younger, but I kept telling them how much I loved it and how much I wanted to come closer to Allah’s satisfaction, as Allah wants every one of us to be equally dignified, and finally they accepted me to try wearing hijab.
By sending this picture, I want to support all the hijabis around the world and I want all of you to remember that your hijab is the CROWN OF YOUR HEAD! It makes everyone know that you are STRONG and ROYAL WOMEN who are respected, trusted and dignified. So embrace it whole-heartedly and do not retreat from anything that has to do with your beautiful hijab!
