SPEAKERS INTRODUCTION

Batouly Camara is a Guinean-American basketball player, entrepreneur, and activist. She played college basketball at the University of Connecticut and later founded Women and Kids Empowerment (W.A.K.E.), a nonprofit organization aimed at empowering girls through sports and education. Camara is also a motivational speaker and author, dedicated to promoting gender equality and youth empowerment globally. Camara has been named Forbes 30 under 30.

Sveto Muhammad Ishoq, an award-winning women’s rights activist and TEDx Speaker from Afghanistan. She has a pioneering force dedicated to empowering women economically and reshaping the narrative surrounding her homeland. Her work establishing impactful organizations have led to empowering illiterate Afghan women through fashion and has raised awareness about the situation of Afghan women and girls.

Dr. Suzy Ismail is the Founding Director of Cornerstone, a global nonprofit organization. As the author of many books, she travels nationally and internationally to speak on women, marriage, family, parenting, and more. She holds dual master’s degrees and a PhD in communication and human services. She currently resides in NJ with her husband and three children.

Passionate volunteer, community leader and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Recognized for commitment to raising awareness about racism and Islamophobia. Organizer/panelist of an Anti-Racism Speaker Series on Islamophobia and workplace microaggressions. Multi-award recipient including Woman of Inspiration, Top 50 Under 50 and recipient of the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal for excellence in public service and leadership.

Kiran is the senior communications director for the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA. She is a freelance journalist, a social media specialist, and a TEDx speaker whose talk “Who’s Afraid of the Hijab?” has garnered over 94,000 views! Kiran is a strong advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and women’s rights, Kiran loves poetry, books, and movies.

Sundas is a cancer survivor and passionate advocate who works to raise awareness about cancer prevention, mental health, and better access to healthcare. With experience in non-profits and government, she uses her knowledge to push for positive changes in healthcare and community well-being. Sundas is a recipient of Women of Inspiration, Art Council Wood Buffalo Buffy’s Award and YMM 50 under 50 2024.

Shreen is an award winning philanthropist and frontline humanitarian aid worker. She has been invited to institutions as a motivational speaker speaking on pertinent issues such as women leadership, islamophobia, domestic violence, self defence, family values, and much more. She is a traveler and organizes spiritual tours to Masjid Al Aqsa. She has been awarded Peace Ambassador by Women’s Federation for World Peace presented in the House of Commons, Best Community Initiative Finalist by British Muslim Awards, ITV Pride of Britain Finalist 2023.

Fadya is a proud Palestinian, mother, educator, organizer, and co-founder of American Muslims for Palestine Texas chapter. She focuses on activating her faith while maintaining a balance between family and community work. She strives to bring about positive change by organizing various training programs that address key aspects of our communities through the lens of Islam.
