I have been living in Vienna, Austria, for almost 12 years now. I started wearing hijab about more than 2 years ago. Living in a Christian country, I realized that wearing the hijab is a true struggle- against environment , society, & most things that constitute the modern western lifestyle. But for me, it is the right path. I have never felt happier or at peace. I have, however, run into a few problems. It has not been an easy transition because of the negative attitude of a lot of people around me. I was even threatened about losing my job. I refuse to let these things rule my life. Alhamdulillah, I feel a lot happier, comfortable, & safe with my hijab.

The post Hijab-A true struggle appeared first on World Hijab Day.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">2291</post-id>

They saw it as an asset, not a liability!

World Hijab Day

Blog

afghan veteran hijab story

army hijab

convert hijab story

hijab and job

hijab asset

hijab in military

hijab rejection

interview with hijab

job rejection due to hijab

job with hijab

muslim convert

soldier revert to islam

By Heather (United States) I converted to Islam in 2011 after two years of studying it. I simply fell in love with Allah and with the message of the Qur’an. I was deployed in Afghanistan when I took shahada over Facebook chat with a friend, and hijab wasn’t an authorized part of the Army uniform. After I returned home that summer, it took me the better part of a year before I started wearing it all the time.

I’ve now been a Muslim for almost 3 years, alhamdilullah. I wear hijab because I want people to recognize me on sight as a Muslim woman. I recently got hired, after six months of job searching and rejection, by a company who thought my hijab was indicative of conviction and inner strength. They saw it as an asset, not a liability! So, to all my sisters who think nobody will hire them if they wear hijab: if it’s that important to you, remain firm and trust Allah. He will provide!

The post They saw it as an asset, not a liability! appeared first on World Hijab Day.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">971</post-id>
