I had come across many Prophetic cures that are recommended to the believer, but I didn’t pay too much attention to them until I got a spiritual illness that no doctor’s medicine could fix.

So, what are some of the Prophetic medicines that are recommended for sick and healthy people?

1. Cupping

There is dry cupping and there is hijama. The former is dry, meaning only steam is collected from your body, but the later is wet. This means that incision marks are made on your body to collect the blood. In both cases, the blood and body are purified of impurities.

The history of hijama is that Muhammad ﷺ saw the angels perform it to each other during his voyage to Jannah; the Miraj. When he ﷺ inquired, they explained to him ﷺ that it is a cure. So, imagine if angels, who are already pure, do hijama, what could be the effect on us?

Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه also reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “When the weather becomes extremely hot, seek aid in cupping (hijama). Do not allow your blood to rage (boil) such that it kills you.”  —Hakim in his ‘Mustadrak.’

So now is the perfect time to try this cure. Yalla, bismillah. The summer heat is in full motion. Alhamdullilah for everything.

In addition, it is narrated by Ibn Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Healing is in three things: cupping, a gulp of honey or cauterization, (branding with fire) but I forbid my followers to use cauterization (branding with fire).”—Bukhari 5681

So, the Prophetic medicine I will expound on next, is honey.

2. Honey

This is true for the Holy book says, “…from their bellies comes forth liquid of varying colors, in which there is healing for people. Surely in this is a sign for those who reflect.”—Quran 16:69

The honey you pick should be raw organic honey for Allah ﷻordains us in the Quran in suratul Baqarah to eat halalan and tayyiban; permissible and pure food.

I have used honey for many ailments and every single time, it’s a winner alhamdulillah.

3. Ajwa Dates

It’s recommended to eat seven of this specific date on a fasting stomach. It acts like a fiber reboot. Want to clean your gut? Try these dates insha’Allah.

To support this, Sa`d narrated that, Allah ﷻ’s Prophet ﷺ said, “He who eats seven ‘Ajwa dates every morning, will not beaffected by poison or magic on the day he eats them.”—Bukhari, Vol.7, Book 70, Hadith 74

4. Black Seeds or Black Seeds Oil

The Prophet ﷺ said, “In the black seed is healing for every disease except death.”—Bukhari. I have a friend who reversed her Hashimoto disease by using this seed diligently every morning. She mixed it with honey. So, it works, Alhamdullilah.

5. The Quran

Last and not least, the Quran is the source of ALL healing. There are many healing verses in the Quran, Alhamdullilah, and one verse that I really like is from surah 26 verse 80.

“And He ˹alone˺ heals me when I am sick.”
