Once I reverted to Islam I was hesitant to wear hijab. My inner fear would say “what will your family, friends, colleagues, etc. think?” In southern California you can go an entire day without seeing anyone in hijab. During Ramadan 2013, I made the decision to wear hijab, and I do not regret it ever. Although I was mocked and hated by some, I learned that you will never please everyone. My duty is to please Allah–not man. I am freer now than I have ever been. I am proud to be a hijab-clothed Muslima. Alhamdulillah!

The post I was mocked and hated appeared first on World Hijab Day.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">1473</post-id>

Millions of Women Empowered

World Hijab Day

Blog

beautiful hijabi

burka

burqa

convert hijab story

covered women

France

hejab

hijaab

hijab

hijabi

islamophobia

muslim women covering

muslimah in hijab

niqab

oppression

parda

revert hijab

subjugation

terroist

terrorism

veil

By Vanessa Perez (USA) I converted into Islam almost one year ago (May 7, 2013). I never thought I would fall in love with a religion so beautifully humble. I’ve come a long way from where I was a year ago. I used to roam this world with an empty feeling inside my heart before Islam. People always ask me what is my testimony from Islam. I could name them the many blessings Allah has sent me this past year but that still couldn’t sum everything. So I simply reply with a smile and say my happiness is my testimony. I found that not only did my life spiritually change but so has my life around me. One week after I converted into Islam I began to wear my Hijab. I had let my parents know I converted so I felt that I had nothing holding me back from covering. I have always been a person that would careless what the people around me think, so when I wore my Hijab people would stare and I would smile back thanking Allah for blessing me with happiness. I think wearing the Hijab is such a beautiful look on women and I support WHD. Knowing that all around the world there are millions of women feeling as empowered and beautiful as I do is what fuels my spirit with happiness. Subhanallah I even saw my younger sister who is not Muslim wearing Hijab with me. Inshallah I will continue learning more about Islam so I can enlighten those around me of the peaceful religion.

The post Millions of Women Empowered appeared first on World Hijab Day.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">1460</post-id>

I am the only Muslim in my whole family

World Hijab Day

Blog

convert hijab story

head scarf

hejab

hijaab

hijab story

Hungarian revert

inspiring hijab story

modesty

muslim head covering

Muslim revert

muslim woman

revert hijab story

scarf

world hijab day

By Ivett (Hungary) I am 20 years old. I am the only Muslim in my whole family. I wear my hijab proudly. It’s a way I can show what I believe in. Hijab made me confident. Islam made me absolutely happy, and gave meaning to my life. It showed me a lot of things: how to be confident, patient, compassionate, and unobtrusive. I notice the beauty of nature; every single little things, how to help others in a good way, how to be thankful, and accept bad and good things. I know that He would never place me a situation that I can’t handle. I am unutterably happy because Allah showed me this Religion. I wear hijab with pleasure, and I don’t fear because I rely on Allah in every single thing, and I know He’ll is protect me, insha’Allah!

The post I am the only Muslim in my whole family appeared first on World Hijab Day.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">714</post-id>

Why Hijab should be considered a basic human necessity

World Hijab Day

Blog

Hijab

Basic hijab necessity

hejab

hijaab

hijab

hijab for humanity

Why hijab

worldhijabday

By Nihan Junaid The principle motive of wearing the Hijab being modesty and chastity, a few added benefits are noted in favor of us modern day Hijabis, a few of them being listed below: 1. Don’t leave anything to chance: Bad hair days? Not anymore!

2. Open new windows to change: Afraid to experiment with your hair? You can try whichever style you wish on it and people won’t question your mental stability. Never fear.

3. Early morning blues: Trouble waking up after a late night movie? Save those extra couple of hours you spend brushing, combing and styling your hair.

4. On a tight budget?: At least you save on spending for hair and ear accessories.

5. Pimple problems: A headscarf turns out to be ridiculously handy during those awkward phases when one develops zits on the side of their face or lower chin, no joke.

6. Those looks of envy you get when the rest of your class is required to wear a hair-net on that field trip where a risk of loose hair cannot be taken. Priceless.

7. Without that constant fear of hair sticking out at weird angles or going frizzy, there is a considerable boost to one’s confidence. True story.

8. Salvage fail: Can’t find the perfect hair accessory to suit that new dress? No worries, basic black suit next to every color.

9. Nap time maneuver: know those times when you fall asleep in class? with the proper seating posture and a bit of luck, a headscarf provides substantial cover without it ending up looking too suspicious.

10. Stealth mode: Spot someone you’d rather not meet at the moment? Just keep a pair of large sunglasses ready and Voila, go incognito in a matter of minute.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

DISCLAIMER: The views posted on Worldhijabday.com are the opinions of the individual author of each posting, and are solely meant for information purposes only.
