What a woman did after her employer asked her to remove hijab

By Siti Nur Aini (Singapore)

Once, a boss asked me if I would remove my Hijab while working. In a calm tone (not wanting to sound arrogant), I told him that I believe that there are many job vacancies out there. But there is only one true religion. In shaaAllah (God willing), I’m able to find new job but I can’t find another religion that is pure and genuine. If I leave my Hijab for you, means, I am leaving my religion because of you. It also means that I fear you more than my Lord. Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah), with that as my answer, Allah has guided me to many beautiful and wonderful things. Alhamdulillah my current job is WAY better.

I’m writing this because I know many sisters are facing the same challengers. Some are scared to leave their job. But ironically shouldn’t we fear Allah alone? Don’t we know that this world belongs to HIM and that rizq (provisions) comes from HIM? I hope this story gives some motivation to others especially sisters in my country, Singapore.

Fear Allah, don’t fear that you are jobless. Being religious doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy this world. In fact, Allah ordered us to enjoy His blessings but without disobeying HIM.

  • Beautiful words from a strong sister,I hope that many will follow you advice and not to bow down for a human being that Allah.. I see a lot sisters from Pakistan leaving there covering of,they know that I’m a brother of them and they look ashamed,, because they know that in their hart, that it is wrong to do a thing like this,,Alhamdullila this girl will have a reward from Allah for sure..

  • As-salamualikum warahmatullah sisters in Islam putting on the Hijab is a sign that Allah has guided you to the straight path, so whatever challenges you you are face with do not despair Allah’s help will always come. May Allah give you the strength courage to be proud of the Hijab. Jazakalukair.

  • And btw I think women in hijab look much better than those without it (my honest opinion)

  • But what about the sisters who are in those line of work, having to don on uniforms(Police, Army, nurses)

    • Before we even take on the job of an uniformed service, we know that the Muslim womens are not allowed to wear the hijab. Having known that fact, and having a choice of alot of other jobs that permits the muslim women to don the hijab, will we still choose a job that goes against our beliefs? If we still choose that job, that choice, we know that is not inline with Islamic guidelines, how are we to answer our Rabb in the Hereafter?

      And Allah knows best.

    • The US hired a Muslim hijabi policewoman. And all the nurses, policewomen etc in the middle east wear hijab. What I’m saying is that it’s not impossible. However if wearing hijab isn’t allowed in your country you might as well avoid that job. Teaching and Medicine is the most recommended jobs for women in Islam.

  • Masha’Allah Sr. Siti may Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’Ala bless you and your family, and all Muslims. Jazak’Allahu Khairan for sharing.

    Was Salaam!

    Sohail
